LEBANON
Why Lebanon?
Lebanon is home to the largest number of refugees per capita in the world; and at present, the country is grappling with an economic collapse that's leaving three-quarters of its 6.7 million population below the poverty line. The 12-year-long conflict in Syria has forced nearly 2 million Syrian refugees (including those unregistered) into Lebanon, in addition to the 500,000 existing Palestinian refugees. Over the years, most Syrian refugees in Lebanon have been deprived of official registration, attaining refugee status, having stable living conditions, education, and adequate and sustainable support. Therefore, since launch, we made it a priority to work in this volatile environment and provide various psychosocial programming, conflict-resolution support, and emergency relief to not just the many in-need Syrian refugees but also the Lebanese host community.
Our Program Supports:
We work closely with our local partners to provide support through four pathways.
Advocacy & Awareness
At ART OF HOPE, we strive to use our voice and global network to advocate for the emotional and psychological well-being of refugees as we believe that the invisible wounds of war, displacement and loss should not be forgotten.
Program Development
At ART OF HOPE, we work closely with our local partners in the field to develop the most effective programming for those who serve. We spend weeks, sometimes months studying the crisis at hand, examining the best strategies, and designing tangible, sustainable, and scalable programming that can deliver effective change.
Capacity Building
At ART OF HOPE we strive to create programming that's complimentary and sensitive to the socio-cultural nuances of the communities served while also empowering for our local partners and caregivers. In addition, we believe that mental well-being is for all - therefore, we take pride in providing support for our therapists and caregivers in addition to our beneficiaries by ways of unique and personally curated mindfulness programming.

On August 4, 2020, a deadly explosion at the port of Beirut killed nearly 200 individuals, injured thousands more, and damaged the capital. Since our launch in 2016, ART OF HOPE has been a vocal advocate & support provider for the mental health, trauma-relief & psychosocial needs of war-torn refugees in Lebanon, the host country of over 1.2 million refugees.
In the aftermath of one of the deadliest explosions in history, ART OF HOPE worked hand in hand with our local partners on the ground to provide emergency medical kits as well as medical and psychological first aid to some of the most marginalized refugees and members of the host community affected by the blast.

In partnership with one of our long-standing local partners in Lebanon, Lebanese Youth Network, we provided 300 families in Karantina - one of the most impoverished port communities with medical & hygiene kits. These kits included safety essentials like masks, sanitizers, first-aid equipment, and personal hygiene products. Prior to our emergency aid distribution, our volunteers at LYN went door to door to assess the unique needs of these families in an effort to organize additional aid distribution based on their specific needs. In total, we managed to support 1000 individuals in this mission and will be conducting follow ups based on each family's urgent and specific needs. In partnership with another one of our local partners, One Pulse and in accordance with all Covid safety restrictions, Art Of Hope will be sponsoring a 3 - month - long trauma-relief, Art Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy program for a group of +60 teenagers affected by the Beirut blasts. The sessions also include workshops to boost the teen's confidence, self-esteem, and mindfulness amidst one of the most challenging times in Lebanon.
